Hello 🙂
I’m back to talk about my other two interviews- hold tight for another long post 😉
University C– Based in the County of Hertfordshire
This is a Uni that I’ve always liked and I was impressed by the information they sent out before the interview. At least you had a rough idea of start/finish times, that we were having maths+ English tests, talks and a GROUP interview. My reaction to the group interview was :O- just because all my others had been 1:1 and I wasn’t expecting it. I’m not saying group interviews are bad- there are advantages and disadvantages to both group and 1:1 interviews, it’s just I had gotten into the swing of individual interviews and what to expect.
Anyway so I got to the University and went to the Main Reception where we had been told to wait- there were loads of people waiting and you could tell they were also waiting for interviews. A lot of people were standing with family/friends and so I did the usual Sarah style of talking to someone next to me- this paid off as she was also applying for radiography but the diagnostic branch instead. This didn’t matter, at least I had someone to talk to and didn’t feel so awkward then. We were then collected and taken to a room where the presentation was being held- I was impressed by the talk and enthusiasm of the lecturers and it had started to make me rank the university a bit higher on my list. But University B was still numero uno!
After the talk we were then put into groups for interviews or tests. The group I was in was going straight to group interview- I was really pleased about this 🙂 I entered the room and we were sat in a semi-circle facing towards the individuals interviewing us. There was about 8 of us- which is quite a lot for therapeutic considering there was another group as well (this university has spaces for 40 therapeutic students- whereas most other Uni’s only have 20 spaces). The interview as a whole went ok to be honest but I wasn’t too keen on doing the group format. I just felt it was awkward- you obviously want to put your view across but then you don’t want to talk too much or talk too little. Then also you would go to say something and the person before would have already said what you were going to say etc. The interview was followed by a maths and English test which was easy- you were even given multiple choice for the answers 😀 I was then free to go home- not before a pit stop at Frankie and Benny’s for post interview debrief with Mum and Nan 🙂
Outcome: I got an offer 5 days later 🙂 I was really pleased about this and am swaying to put this as my insurance choice 🙂
University D-Â Based in London
I was originally offered an interview for this University for the same date as University A but as I had already confirmed to attend University A- then this one had to be rescheduled. I wasn’t expecting to get another interview as in the email I was sent they said due to high demands for the course it would be very unlikely to get another interview date. So I had brushed this one aside and didn’t really expect to get an interview but alas I did.
I confirmed to go- although I was getting a bit tired of the whole interview process and the fact that I have missed 4 Wednesday lessons off college but hey ho that’s life. When I got there I didn’t really feel comfortable where the University was based and just felt out of place (even though I have visited before- this time was different). I wasn’t sure of what was going to happen- we were not given a schedule, just a start time but no end time.  So I got there and we were taken as a group up to the interview room- I had to give them different documents relating to the course and CRB checks. I then sat down for the presentation- but the projector wasn’t working so he   just chatted and we went through the handouts. We then had to do a 15 minute of “What is professionalism in healthcare”- So I talked about it as a whole as well as applying it to the course.
I then had my interview- which I had to wait a bit for so got chatting to some of the other individuals which was nice. Some of them had been to interviews at the same Universities I have applied to so we were chatting and discussing that. The interview itself went ok- they threw in a couple of difficult questions or ones I wasn’t expecting to come up such as why have you done three years at college and others that I can’t remember. I came out feeling ok but knew even if I did get an offer I wouldn’t be going there- I think you can tell when a place just isn’t for you.
Outcome: Hahaha- I got an offer on Tuesday lol!  I was just happy they replied so now I can confirm and insurance my other choices 😀
My overall outcome is I got 4 offers out of 5 which I am over the moon about!!!! I was worried I wouldn’t even get one! My brother always said I would get offers- maybe I should listen to him more and have a bit more belief in my abilities.
Anyway decisions need to be made now on which to confirm and insurance- so another blog post in the making when I decide 😉 Plus I also have a special blog coming up which is not related to ucas/uni so watch this space!
Love S
